The new schedule model for Atlantic Coast Conference football will result in repeat trips for some teams in 2013 to the same sites they visited in 2012.
The conference released the assignments for teams in 2013 on Friday, though actual dates of games will be made public in February. This will mark the first football season with Pittsburgh and Syracuse as ACC members.
(A chart for all 14 football-playing teams can be found on Page C6.
Duke will have three repeat games at the same sites as 2012. The Blue Devils will go back to Virginia Tech and to Wake Forest this year. However, they?ll play Miami at home for the second year in a row.
The other matchups at the same sites as 2012 are:Georgia Tech at Clemson; Virginia Tech at Boston College; and Virginia Tech at Miami.
Each school has one rotating crossover game against a team from the opposite division. For the 12 schools that have been in the league, the 2013 crossover foe will be an opponent in which they haven?t played since 2009. Among those matchups is a visit for North Carolina State to Duke.
However, there?s no N.C. State / Virginia matchup. Fired N.C. State coach Tom O?Brien took a job on the coaching staff at Virginia as Mike London?s top assistant.
Meanwhile, North Carolina will play non-conference home games against Middle Tennessee, East Carolina an Old Dominion along with what?s supposed to be season-opening game at South Carolina.
The date of the North Carolina / South Carolina game has been uncertain, with North Carolina announcing previous that it would be Aug. 29 (a Thursday night), while South Carolina?s website showing an Aug. 31 date.
N.C. State will play eight total home games. The non-league slate will include Louisiana Tech, East Carolina, Central Michigan and Richmond ? all posting winning records in 2012.
N.C. State also announced Friday that its spring practice will start March 24 with the annual spring game April 20.
