Canada's CBC Taps U.S. Sports Marketing Vet as Olympics Pointman

TORONTO ? The CBC has tapped Jeffrey L. Orrdidge to be its Olympic ace after the veteran U.S. sports marketing exec helped the Canadian pubcaster land the marquee TV sport property.

Orridge joined the CBC last year as executive director of sports properties, and helped the pubcaster outbid rival Canadian broadcasters to grab the rights to the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games and 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games.

That win follows the CBC being bypassed to air the 2012 Vancouver Games and the 2012 London Games by a consortium of rival private sector broadcasters.

His thanks is overseeing all Olympic related business for the CBC and its French language counterpart, Radio Canada.

Orridge will also continue managing other CBC sports properties like the NHL, FIFA and the 2015 Pan Am Games.
